Pastor's Message

Welcome to Dolores Mission!

When people come and visit our little church, they always remark, “Wow! I thought you were much bigger than this!” I think this is because our image looms large in peoples’ minds. Somehow, thanks to the incredible work and outsized faith of the people of this parish, we have developed a big reputation—for working for justice and fairness, for immigrants, for standing with the poor and marginalized, for not demonizing but working with our young people. The truth is, the people of Dolores Mission evangelize me—that is, they preach the good news of Jesus’ resurrection and victory over death to me. By simply getting up after being knocked down time and time again, they are walking proof of the power of light over darkness.

I hope our website gives you some flavor of the people of our parish. But better yet, come to one of our masses on a Sunday, and then stay after for a meal of enchiladas or mulitas on the plaza. You will begin to appreciate and enjoy the great faith of our people. And you will leave feeling full!
